Fernando Ramirez, age 31, of Westport, has been charged with reckless driving and reckless endangerment in connection with the Nov. 14, three-vehicle crash on Post Road West, in Westport.
During the crash, Ramirez was driving a vehicle that hit a car turning into an area business sending it across several lanes where it was struck by another vehicle, said Westport Police Lt. David Wolf. All three vehicles sustained heavy damage.
Ramirez was injured and transported to the hospital for treatment.
A follow-up investigation found that Ramirez was driving recklessly and at excessive speeds, said Wolf.
Based upon the results of the investigation, an arrest warrant was subsequently sought and granted for Ramirez.
Ramirez turned himself in at the Westport Police Department in connection with this active warrant where he was charged and released on a $500 bond.
He is scheduled to appear in court on Monday, Jan. 25.
